All we want for Christmas

Well.. everyone keeps asking us what we want for Christmas and other than a van, which is a tad on the expensive side we were getting a bit stuck so we've decided to put up an amazon wishlist on here.

At the moment it is just Laura's, but Bradley will either make his own or add stuff to hers accordingly.

When you go on if you switch the 'sort by' to priority, and if you wish to purchase (no pressure by any means) please get the cheapest options available.

Most Exciting

Well well well... today, it is finally happening, what we have been waiting for for what seems like a lifetime... today: we get carpet!!

Well, that's not that exciting really is it now you say... NO! It is truly. For today our room shall be complete, dust free, splinter free, warm and best of all; quiet! Yes, finally the echoes of the house shall not pass through our floor at all hours, we will no longer know if Dylan is scratching himself, or if James is home from the pub, no longer shall we here that Molly has gone too close to Megan, nor Pirate FM shall travel up to our sleeping ears. Today is a good day. Finally we shall have our own space, finished, and we can unpack for the fifth and final time!

Whilst that excitement is predominant in our day we unfortunately lost a chook last night, she hadn't been right for some time, so it was for the best, but it was still a little sad. But its an old life for our two new ones, who are both doing very well, they're outdoors now, still under the heat lamp but gradually getting used to the cold and the big wide world. They're even starting to get grown up feathers which is rather lovely, unlike the ducklings who, know how to escape from their pen and are still yellow and fluffy.

Winter is really starting to draw in now, the nights are seriously cold but Laura got the wood burner on last night, all by herself for the first time, and she shall see to it that it is on every night now until the ridiculous cold is over. Fortunately the rain and clouds are back now so the edge has been taken off the chill.

We still haven't made any exact plans for Christmas, we have to wait and see whats happening here first, but we hope to go up to London beforehand, around the start of next month, to see the Christmassy sights; and the shops (added by Laura :D). And then again in early January as Laura has her first school reunion! Not quite 10 years worth but organised through facebook since about 80% of the year are on it!!

Well as I type the carpeters are entering our room the start their magic :D I have taken some piccys, but on an old school camera, so they will have to be developed first: before and after shots.

In other news, this week we ate the first of our squashes. After a sick day which Laura spent watching Jamie at home (2 hours worth) she was inspired to make a lovely Squash Risotto. Its always exciting to have the first of a harvest, and it really makes one appreciate the turning of the seasons and the blessing of good home grown nosh.

We better get on, it took three of us about two hours to get everything out of our room, it will probably take much longer to get everything back in, starting now with James' room so they can carpet the hallway.

We hope you all are well. x x x

Cold and Frosty Morning

Well, it has been a while since we last updated, mostly because we have both been rather ill, and secondly busy trying to catch up on the work left behind due to being ill. First Bradley was struck down by the mighty stomach bug; thus having to spend most of the weekend in bed, and then Laura got it too. We are both starting to feel better now but still a little worse for wear, and very behind on work.

Life has been quite pleasnt otherwise. First we had two lovely baby chicks be born, well, four, but only two made it out their shells, both Maran/Buff Orpington crosses. They are very sweet and have been named Ludo and Clarabelle, it looks like Ludos a girl and Clarabelle is a boy! But we'll have to wait a few months and see if we're right. We're really hoping for a boy so fingers crossed everyone!

A Maran Cockeral like our proud Dad.

A Buff Orpington Hen like Mum.

Then Monday was, of course, Guy Fawkes night, and we celebrated by going to visit Tom and Laura in Golant to drink mulled wine and watch the fireworks (and then Autumnwatch with the beavers :D). Their house is on the hill and the fireworks were going off by the river below us so most of the lower level fireworks were just by our eyeline, pretty amazing until some of the rockets started veering towards us!! Golant is on the Fowey River:

... and the sound of the fireworks bouncing off the valley sides all around was incredible; like a shoot out in a Tarantino movie, quite scary - esspecially for the poor animals around us, but good fun.

So now were mostly back to work. Getting the house tidyed up since we've been a little lax while we've been ill, and getting some of the outside work done. And Laura is getting on with her coursework for her RHS Level 2.

We hope this finds our readers well! x
